Saint-Quentin: New health service to improve access to Pap tests for women

Vitalité Health Network, Monday, May 1, 2023 – A new service available at Hôtel Dieu Saint Joseph de Saint Quentin will help improve access to cervical cancer screening for many women in the region.

Women who do not have a family physician may now book an appointment for a Pap test at Ambulatory Care in Hôtel Dieu Saint Joseph de Saint Quentin. All they need to do is call 506-235-7300, from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Dr. Jessy Phillips will support the team as the physician collaborator.

The service will start on May 10, 2023 and be offered one day a month after that. The frequency of the service could be increased depending on demand.

According to Karen Frenette, Corporate Director of Outpatient Clinics, this is excellent news for the region’s orphan patients (those without a family physician). “The service will be provided by nurses who have received special training for this procedure. Dr. Jessy Phillips will support them as the physician collaborator. We are very happy that we could set up this great team that will contribute to the health of women in Restigouche West,” she said.
