New Vitalité Health Network 2017-2020 Strategic Plan Launched

Bathurst, February 22, 2017 – Michelyne Paulin, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, and Gilles Lanteigne, President and Chief Executive Officer, launched this afternoon the new Vitalité Health Network 2017-2020 Strategic Plan.

The new plan called “Toward the modernization and transformation of the health care system,” is the Network’s second strategic plan since it was established in 2008. In the current context of change and adjustment, it became necessary to develop a new strategic plan for 2017-2020.  This ambitious plan, with its resolute focus on the future, lays out a path to drastically transform the health care system in order to improve the quality and accessibility of services, meet people’s changing needs more effectively, and ensure that services are clinically and financially sustainable.

“We are pleased to present this strategic plan, which opens a new chapter in our organization’s history,” said Ms. Paulin. “This plan includes our major organizational objectives for the next three years and sets out our core strategies to meet these objectives.” According to Ms. Paulin, the strategic planning exercise, conducted under the auspices of the Board of Directors, provided an opportunity to acknowledge the evolving needs of the public and adjust to the new directions of the Government and trends in the health field.

As for Mr. Lanteigne, he said he was proud of the work done. “This new strategic plan is the end result of a coordinated and methodical process,” he explained. To develop this plan, it was necessary to collect comprehensive data based on past and current development plans, several reports on people’s needs, and data on the health status of the population.  “We also conducted a broad consultation process with our employees, volunteers and physicians, as well as with our community partners and the general public. We also received feedback and views from over 900 people on our mission, vision, and values, as well as on the challenges that the Network will face to improve the health of people.”

The 2017-2020 Strategic Plan presents the seven broad strategic directions that will form the cornerstone of the Network’s efforts over the next three years. Each strategic direction is supplemented with one or more priority areas for action along with the expected strategic results.

The strategic directions are:

  1. We will contribute to improving the health of people.
  2. We will provide continuous primary health services as close as possible to people’s homes.
  3. We will ensure fair access to care and services across the Network’s territory.
  4. We will promote a culture of excellence.
  5. We will optimize the university training and research mission.
  6. We will promote the growth and development of the Network employees and medical staff members.
  7. We will promote transparency in communications and the involvement of communities.

Operational plans including performance indicators will be developed to measure the level of success in achieving expected strategic results.

The strategic planning exercise also provided an opportunity to renew the Network’s mission, vision and values.

  • Our mission: Excel in improving people’s health
  • Our vision: People responsible for their own health
  • Our values: Respect, compassion, integrity, accountability, equity and engagement

Since the Network has the distinctive feature of being an organization under Francophone governance, providing the public with services in both official languages, it has decided to highlight this feature by adding a signature to its logo, changing its corporate image:
