Emergency

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week with medical staff and ambulance stop.

A practical nurse is present Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Emergency Department provides immediate care for various problems ranging from uncomplicated to life-threatening situations.
The multidisciplinary team of the Emergency Department includes:
• Doctors;
• A nurse practitioner;
• Nursing staff;
• Respiratory therapists;
• Pharmacists;
• Health care aids and clerks.

On average, 24,000 to 25,000 patients are seen in the Emergency Department every year.

A triage nurse sees all patients who come to the Emergency Department. She assesses their condition to determine the priority their case should be assigned, based on a normalized system meeting national standards. The most seriously ill people and most urgent cases are seen and cared for ahead of others, even if they arrive in the Emergency Department later than others. This policy is essential to ensure that all patients receive the care they need.

The Emergency Department is committed to treating every patient as quickly as possible.
