Vitalité updates situation on confidentiality breach

Moncton, July 31, 2014 – With the Access to Information and Privacy Commissioner publishing her report about a physician’s unauthorized access to electronic patient records at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, Vitalité Health Network takes this opportunity to provide a statement regarding its’ investigative process.

As we have just received the Commissioner’s report, we will study the reports facts and conclusions and will pay particular attention to the recommendations provided. We will also take note of this report’s contents while proceeding actively with our independent internal investigative process. Our final report as well as recommendations will be submitted in the fall of 2014. Vitalité Health Network will not make any additional public statements before the conclusion of its’ internal investigative process.

Insofar as the physician’s work status, we confirm that the physician is still employed by Vitalité Health Network. However, he has been absent from his place of work since the end of February 2014.

The Network thanks the Commissioner for her collaborative efforts through this investigative process.
