Appeal to communities: Vitalité Health Network launching International Staff Hosting Program

Vitalité Health Network, October 11, 2023 – Vitalité Health Network is appealing to communities as part of its new International Staff Hosting Program, which gives individuals and families the opportunity to host newcomers who are starting a career at Vitalité Health Network.

“In the face of a staff shortage, we doubled our efforts to recruit health care workers internationally. These efforts have been successful, so much so that the Network’s facilities will welcome hundreds of new international employees over the coming months and years,” explained Frédéric Finn, Vice-President of Employee Experience at Vitalité Health Network. “However, the housing shortage is posing a challenge for the settlement and retention of newcomers.”

Therefore, the Network has implemented a program to match people (health care workers) arriving from overseas (alone, as a couple, or as a family) and families and individuals who want to provide accommodations for them in their home. Various solutions are possible, depending on the space available and the preferences of participants. The program makes hosting available for a period of up to three months, the time allotted to newcomers to find permanent accommodations.

Hosts will receive compensation between $400 and $700 per month. They will also have the opportunity to discover a new culture and build friendships, in addition to contributing to the Network’s efforts to recruit and retain health care workers in their community.

Anyone who is interested in participating in Vitalité Health Network’s International Staff Hosting Program is asked to send an email to immigration [at] vitalitenb.ca (subject: International%20Staff%20Hosting%20Program%20) and include their phone number. A representative from the Network will get in touch to start the matching process. Participants will have to provide a criminal record check issued no more than one year ago.
