Vitalité Health Network asks people of the Restigouche to limit ER visits

Bathurst, Thursday, June 10, 2020 – The Network asks the people of the Restigouche and surrounding areas to only visit the Emergency Department of the Campbellton Regional Hospital in urgent situations.  This is due to an overflow of patients in the Emergency Department combined with a shortage of staff in several areas of the facility.

The facility’s Emergency Department remains available for people who need urgent care and who wish to see a doctor. However, the Network asks people whose health condition is not critical to see their family doctor or nurse practitioner, consult their community pharmacist, visit a walk-in clinic or call the Tele-Care service (811).

Those who nevertheless come to the Emergency Department for non-urgent reasons must be patient and expect longer than usual waits.

The Network thanks the public for their valuable collaboration during this difficult period.
