Temporary interruption of pediatric services at the Chaleur Regional Hospital
Bathurst, Friday, July 29, 2022 – Vitalité Health Network is announcing that the pediatric services provided at the Chaleur Regional Hospital will temporarily be suspended due to a shortage of nursing staff in the facility. This interruption will not affect obstetrical services.
Temporary interruption: from Friday, July 29, at 8 p.m. until Wednesday, August 3, at 8 a.m.
Vitalité Health Network prioritizes access to safe and optimal health care for the entire population. The shortage of nursing resources is currently exacerbated by the summer period, the pandemic and staff burnout.
Service interruptions are always a last resort. We are actively seeking solutions with the people on site to boost the resilience of our teams during these difficult periods.
People who require pediatric care at that hospital must present to the Emergency Department of the Chaleur Regional Hospital where situations will be treated on a case-by-case basis with the possibility of being redirected to another facility of the Network.
The Network apologizes for the inconveniences caused by this situation.
