A successful consultation process for the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan

Bathurst, December 1, 2016 – Vitalité Health Network is very pleased with participation in the broad consultation process conducted as part of its strategic planning, between October 19 and November 2, 2016.

Many members of the public, employees, physicians, volunteers, and community partners offered their input by answering an online survey and taking part in telephone interviews conducted by an independent third party. A total of 873 individuals expressed their views, and approximately 100 of them were members of the general public. “We would have liked to hear from more members of the general public but we are nevertheless satisfied with the overall response rate,” stated Michelyne Paulin, Board of Directors Chairperson. “We made an effort to reach the public and our partners and their response was positive.”

Overall, eight out of ten respondents welcomed the proposals regarding the vision, mission, values, issues and priorities of the Network. The Network made every effort to get feedback from its community partners, focusing primarily on municipalities and First Nations communities. The comments received will help to further reflect upon certain topics. For instance, greater emphasis will be placed on disease prevention and health promotion, collaboration and partners, as well as skill enhancement.

The consultation phase was conclusive and had a positive impact on reflections. Many participants appreciated the fact that they were consulted. The 2017-2010 Strategic Plan should be adopted by the Board of Directors in early 2017 and will be published at that time.
