Caring messages for Vitalité Health Network inpatients

Vitalité Health Network, Tuesday, December 13, 2022 – What could be nicer and more comforting than receiving a message from a loved one when you are in hospital? Well that is just what the “Care Mail” feature on Vitalité Health Network’s website is for.

The presence of designated support persons (DSP) and visitors for inpatients is important. “But whether near or far from the hospital, anyone can easily show their support and send a personalized message to a patient,” said Brigitte Sonier Ferguson, Senior Vice-President of Performance, University Mission and Strategy. “Over the last two years, just over 5,000 care mail messages have been sent to patients – an outstanding success,” she continued.

To send a message, first go to the Care Mail section of the Network’s website. Simply fill in the required fields, select an image, type a message to the patient and then click “Send Care Mail.”

Care Mail messages, printed in colour, are delivered the same day or the next morning by a volunteer or staff member. We recommend not including any personal information about the patient, their illness or the reason they are in hospital. “I encourage everyone to make use of this feature when a family member or loved one is in hospital. This is one way that the Network can implement one of its priorities – to improve the patient experience.”
