Campbellton Regional Hospital: Gradual reopening of certain services

Campbellton, Wednesday, June 3, 2020 – Vitalité Health Network is announcing the gradual reopening of certain services at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

Emergency Department

As a first step, the facility’s Emergency Department will reopen its doors on Friday, June 5, 2020 but from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. only.   “We have sufficient nursing staff and physicians to partially reopen the Emergency Department as of Friday morning,” explained Gilles Lanteigne, President and CEO of the Network.  I want to reassure the public that all control measures are in place to ensure the safety of patients and staff in the Emergency Department and throughout the facility,” he continued.  The situation will be reassessed early next week.

Mild symptoms – family doctor or nurse practitioner rather than Emergency Department

Whenever possible, the Network asks people to contact their family doctor, nurse practitioner or Tele-Care 811 before going to the Emergency Department of the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

Other non-urgent services

As for ambulatory care services and non-urgent (elective) surgeries, these remain suspended for now.  The situation will be reassessed early next week.

“I want to thank all our employees and physicians for their tireless work to restore service delivery in Campbellton as quickly as possible,” Mr. Lanteigne said.

The Network also thanks the people of the Restigouche for their patience and understanding during this difficult period.
