The renovation of the dialysis unit includes the addition of three new treatment stations. This will help improve access for eligible patients, while reducing the travel time and costs for people who have had to go to Chaleur Regional Hospital three times a week for this vital service up until now.

“Access to health care and services close to home is essential,” said Dr. France Desrosiers, President and CEO of the Network. “This addition will have a positive impact on the quality of life of our patients and their family. It will also lighten their financial burden,” she added.

The new chronic illness management clinic will help meet the growing need for these services and should help reduce the appointment no-show rate.

These two projects, valued at over $1.5 million, were made possible thanks to the generosity of the community and the participation of the Fondation.

“Exceeding the initial goal showed the attachment of people to their hospital,” said Clifford Robichaud, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Fondation Les Amis de l’Hôpital de Tracadie. “The success of our major fundraising campaign is a testimony to the solidarity and determination of our community to improve the quality of health care here at home first. The Fondation Les Amis de l’Hôpital de Tracadie is honoured to have played a role in this impressive success. Together, we have made a difference. These clinics will become pillars of our commitment to the well-being of our community for years to come,” continued Mr. Robichaud.

La Coopérative régionale de la Baie was the campaign’s lead donor with a donation of $500,000.

“As a member of the Coopérative Régionale de la Baie Ltée de Tracadie, I am honoured to participate in this historic step for our community, says General Manager Mario Cormier. The achievement of these projects represents a very meaningful step forward in improving access to quality health care in our region. I am proud to play a key role in this initiative that will improve the lives of many people.”

Dr. France Desrosiers noted that the success of this campaign is the fruit of a collective effort. “On behalf of Vitalité Health Network, I sincerely thank the people who participated in this campaign and thereby contributed to the wellness of our patients,” she said.
