Campbellton Regional Hospital: Temporary Interruption of Obstetrics and Pediatric Services

Campbellton, November 7, 2019 - Vitalité Health Network is informing residents of the Restigouche area that Obstetrics (delivery) and Pediatric Services at the Campbellton Regional Hospital will be temporarily suspended from Friday, November 8, 2019, 8 a.m. to Wednesday, November 13, 2019 8 a.m. This situation is due to a lack of pediatrician

The Network has gone to great lengths to find alternate pediatricians and provide the services, but was unsuccessful, President and CEO of the Network, Mr. Gilles Lanteigne, explains that the offer of patient care will be maintained. "Pregnant women will be able to give birth at Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst, and young patients who need specialized pediatric care will also be referred to this hospital," he said.

Despite this temporary interruption, pregnant women will still be able to visit the Campbellton Regional Hospital for assessment and basic services.

The Network will contact all women, 36 weeks pregnant or more, who would normally deliver their babies at Campbellton Regional Hospital to inform them about this situation and to answer their questions. Pregnant women from the Restigouche region who have questions or concerns can call 506-789-5068. Nurses will be able to answer their questions or concerns.

The Network apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this situation and reminds the public that this is a temporary situation.
