Vitalité Health Network continues its international recruiting efforts

Vitalité Health Network, Tuesday, October 11, 2022 – Teams from Vitalité Health Network have been conducting international recruiting missions over the last few weeks. Representatives have gone to Brussels and Namur (Belgium), London (United Kingdom) and Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to present career opportunities in nursing within the Network.

Keen interest

The missions, organized jointly with Opportunities NB (ONB) and other partners in the maritime provinces, have gone very well. “Our team has received a warm welcome in each city and we have been able to see a keen interest on the ground for the career opportunities we are offering. We have also had a golden opportunity to present the province and the quality of life for people who choose to settle in New Brunswick,” said Frédéric Finn, Vice-President of Employee Experience.

In each city to which the missions have gone, the information sessions presented by the Network have attracted the attention of many people. These sessions have been followed by individual meetings. The mission to Belgium resulted in a list of 21 potential candidates. “These results are very encouraging; we are waiting for the results of the missions underway in London and Dubai. The next step now involves meeting with the potential candidates for formal job interviews later this fall,” said Mr. Finn.

In a few weeks, the Network will continue its recruiting missions in France and Morocco. The Network has set an objective of recruiting 325 health care workers (registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and patient care attendants) internationally between now and the end of 2023.

Tangible results from the June mission

This past June, the Network went to France, Morocco and Senegal. This recruiting mission was a success; in fact, it resulted in the hiring of 34 patient care attendants. “Once all the immigration formalities are settled, we anticipate that the new health care workers will start to join us over the next few months,” said Mr. Finn.

Some of the new workers could potentially obtain registered nurse or licensed practical nurse positions once the credential recognition process has been completed with the designated professional association. Moreover, the next mission in France will be the perfect opportunity to implement the initiative recently announced by the government, i.e., the process to expedite the licensing of nursing staff trained in France.

Recruiting health professionals is part of the provincial government’s health plan, Stabilizing Health Care: An Urgent Call to Action, which aims to develop an integrated health care system to ensure that New Brunswickers have access to improved and timely care. The plan includes accelerated recognition of the qualifications of health professionals trained abroad.
