New Brunswick Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Centre of Excellence recognized across Canada for its best practice

Moncton – April 24, 2019 – Vitalité Health Network is proud to announce that the New Brunswick Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Centre of Excellence was recognized for its best practice by Accreditation Canada, an affiliate of the Health Standards Organization.

According to Dr. Nicole LeBlanc, Regional Chief of Staff for Vitalité Health Network and Medical Director for the New Brunswick FASD Centre of Excellence, the Centre had to meet several strict criteria to obtain this Canada-wide recognition for its best practice. “It is through teamwork and collaboration with our various partners that we were able to meet these requirements. Thank you to everyone who, through their commitment, has been giving us the opportunity to provide prevention, diagnostic and support services since 2012,” she added.

The New Brunswick FASD Centre of Excellence is a provincial initiative funded by the Department of Health and managed by Vitalité Health Network. The Centre’s mission is to offer families and professionals working with people with FASD in New Brunswick, prevention, diagnostic, intervention, support and post-clinic follow-up services in both official languages.

The Centre also provides support and intervention services to adults already diagnosed with FASD and to families. It is thanks to a multidisciplinary team from all across the province that the Centre can ensure that services are available to all New Brunswick communities, including Indigenous communities.
