COVID-19: The Network concerned about the situation in zone 4

Edmundston, Saturday, April 3, 2021 – Vitalité Health Network remains deeply concerned about the constant spread of COVID-19 in Zone 4 (Edmundston).

“The evolution of the variant and its atypical behaviours are creating problems that exceed the pessimistic projections that had been made for that region. The Edmundston Regional Hospital will soon reach its maximum capacity in terms of patients requiring acute care. We will have depleted all available resources to provide safe health care during an emergency situation. The transfer of patients to other facilities is imminent,” stated Dr. France Desrosiers, President and CEO of Vitalité Health Network.

On a positive note, the President and CEO of the Network reiterates her confidence in the exemplary work of the front-line medical and nursing staff. “We are fortunate to have amazing teams who possess an expertise that is second to none. We have been successful in overcoming the hardships and obstacles of COVID-19 so far, and I am confident that we will continue doing so until the end,” she added.

The Network reminds those who are eligible for the vaccine to get vaccinated as soon as possible to help protect their community against the virus and its new variants. The Network also asks the public to continue to apply and observe all the Public Health preventive measures related to COVID-19. “I would like to thank the public for its collaboration and patience so far in the fight to control the outbreak.  We must continue our efforts and not let our guard down,” Dr. Desrosiers concluded.
