Vitalité Health Network asks to reduce Emergency Department visits at Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital and Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Joseph de Saint-Quentin

Saint-Anne-de-Kent and Saint-Quentin, Friday, December 3, 2021 – Vitalité Health Network asks that the public limit their visits to the Emergency departments of the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital and Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Joseph de Saint-Quentin, except in cases of an emergency. This temporary measure is due to a lack of medical staff in the two facilities.

At Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital, this will be in effect:
between 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021, and 8 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021.

At Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Joseph de Saint-Quentin, this will be in effect:
Between 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021, and 8 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021.

The Emergency departments of the two hospitals will remain available for people who need urgent care and who wish to see a doctor. However, the Network asks that people whose health condition is not critical see their family doctor or nurse practitioner, consult their community pharmacist, visit a walk-in clinic or call Tele-Care (811).

People who still come to the Sainte-Anne-de-Kent and Saint-Quentin Emergency departments for non-urgent reasons may be referred to another hospital or asked to return the next day if their condition permits.
Ambulances heading to these two hospitals will be redirected to another hospital facility during these periods.

The Network thanks the public for their valuable co-operation.
