Renewal of Affiliation Agreement between Vitalité Health Network and the Université de Sherbrooke

Moncton, September 16 2016 – Vitalité Health Network and the Université de Sherbrooke proceeded this morning to the renewal of their affiliation agreement.

Through this renewal agreement the Université de Sherbrooke will continue to offer its Family Medicine training program in New Brunswick via the Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau-Brunswick.

“The renewal of this agreement is of great importance to us as it allows us to ensure continuity in the development of skills and competencies of medical students in New Brunswick. It gives them the opportunity to further their professional development in their own province”, said Vitalité Health Network President and CEO Gilles Lanteigne.

“The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences has for mission the training, research and knowledge sharing. As we prepare to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the offshoring of our medical doctorate program in Moncton, this agreement renewal fits more than ever within our mission”, said Université de Sherbrooke Medical and Health Sciences Dean Pierre Cossette. “Thanks to a vision of partnership and mutual enrichment, our Faculty can contribute in offering to New Brunswick’s francophone population medical training and the delivery of quality of care delivery centered on their needs”.

The Université de Sherbrooke Medical training program is offered mainly at the Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau-Brunswick with collaborative sites within hospital and medical facilities in all of Vitalité Health Network’s zones. Medical residents can complete their training in New Brunswick, this enhancing the return of health professionals in the province.

“With this partnership, close to 400 internships are done by the medical students in Vitalité Health Network’s hospitals and medical clinics. This is a strong demonstration of the value this partnership brings to our institutions and the medical profession in New Brunswick”, states Dr. Michel Landry, Director and Associate Dean at the Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau-Brunswick.
