Presence of norovirus confirmed at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC

Moncton, June 26, 2014 – The management of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre informs the public that visits are suspended at the 3A Unit (general medicine), the 3E Unit (Geriatrics) and the 3F Unit (Rehabilitation). This situation is due to confirmed norovirus cases among patients and employees.
The management is asking for the public’s cooperation to avoid the spread of the virus.
As a precaution, citizens visiting patients in other units are asked to do the following:

  • Thoroughly wash their hands with soap and water or rubbing hands together with an alcohol-based gel for at least 15 seconds, this upon entering the hospital and upon leaving the patient’s room;
  • Proceed directly to their home upon leaving the hospital;
  • Avoid visiting patients if they are not feeling well.

The management of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
