Bathurst, Thursday, March 5, 2020 – It is with great sadness that the management of Vitalité Health Network learned of Dr. Rodolphe F. Leblanc’s passing on February 24.

Considered the founder of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, Dr. Leblanc passed away in Sept-Îles at the age of 97. After pursuing his medical career in New Brunswick for 31 years and for several other years in Africa and Quebec, Dr. Leblanc received a number of honours, including a medal for his role as a pioneer and visionary in the establishment of a major French-language hospital in Moncton.

“Many have cited Dr. Leblanc as a man of compassion and action. Having established the largest Francophone hospital in the province, he was and will remain, in my view, an icon and a role model for all professionals in the medical field,” declared Gilles Lanteigne, President and CEO of the Network.

The Network wishes to express its sincerest condolences to all members of Dr. Leblanc’s family, his loved ones, his former colleagues and his friends.
