Obstetrical and Pediatric Services at the Campbellton Regional Hospital: temporary interruption until further notice

Campbellton, Friday, April 3, 2020 – Vitalité Health Network is announcing that obstetrical services (delivery) and pediatric services at the Campbellton Regional Hospital will be temporarily interrupted as of Sunday, April 5, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. This interruption will be in place until further notice and is due to a lack of pediatricians in northern New Brunswick and the absence of regular locum physicians due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

Pregnant women will be able to give birth at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst.  "We regret this situation, which is beyond our control," said Johanne Roy, Vice-President, Clinical Services at Vitalité Health Network. "The Network intends to continue its efforts to recruit specialists and is studying other options to stabilize obstetrical services in Campbellton.”

Despite this temporary interruption, pregnant women will still be able to make an appointment at the Campbellton Regional Hospital for assessment and basic services.   Pregnant women from the Restigouche region who have questions or concerns can call 506-789-5068. Nurses will be able to answer their questions or concerns.

Young patients requiring specialized care will be hospitalized at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.

The Network apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this situation.
