Nurse navigator position at the Chaleur Regional Hospital

Bathurst, August 29, 2014 – Vitalité Health Network regrets recent public statements by the group “Action Revivre” concerning the skills of a registered nurse assigned to the Breast Health Clinic of the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst.

According to Rino Volpé, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Network, this constitutes a direct, unfounded, and unacceptable attack on a health professional. “As an organization, we strive to provide all our patients with health care services that are safe and of high quality,” he stated. “When filling a position, we ensure that the successful candidate possesses the skills required to perform the requested tasks.”

The Network disapproves of the comments, which imply that management of the Chaleur Regional Hospital granted the position in question at the expense of the quality of services and the safety of cancer patients. According to the President and Chief Executive Officer, these unfounded statements undermine the Network’s credibility and tarnish the reputation of one of its registered nurses. “I reiterate my full confidence in the quality of the services delivered by our staff,” he concluded.

The Network is always attentive to the comments, concerns, and complaints of patients. Our monthly patient surveys reflect a high level of satisfaction with the appropriateness of the treatments provided and the relief of pain and discomfort. In a spirit of continuous quality improvement, the Network collaborates closely with its health professionals to constantly improve the organization’s services. Anyone with comments on the quality of our care and services may contact our Quality and Patient Safety Department by telephone, e-mail, or in writing.
