No reduction of services considered at the Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Joseph hospital in Saint-Quentin

Saint-Quentin, September 9, 2016 – Vitalité Health Network wishes to reiterate that there will be no reduction of services offered at the the Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Joseph hospital in Saint-Quentin.

The past few weeks, some stakeholders have publicly expressed their concerns regarding the future of services offered at the Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Joseph hospital in Saint-Quentin and possible reduction of services. Vitalité Health Network is sensitive to the concerns raised and wishes to make clear that it has no intention to reduce services offered at the facility.

According to Gilles Lanteigne, the Network’s President and CEO, coming changes in health care have as primary objective to improve the quality of services while ensuring long-term clinical and financial viability. “It is true that we face specific challenges at the Saint-Quentin facility in regards to specialized human resources, specifically for Laboratory services”, he stated. “We are presently in an intensive recruiting process to fill certain positions. In the meantime, it was necessary to reorganize certain internal approaches in order to continue offering the same services to the local population”.

The President and CEO specified that, in certain cases, these new approaches have even improved services offered. “Certain analytical tests at the lab are now processed quicker than before”.

The Network does not condone the unnecessarily alarmist statements by certain stakeholders regarding the future of health care services in Saint-Quentin. “Our objective is, as always, to ensure the delivery of quality and safe services to our population”, concluded Mr. Lanteigne.
