New Chaleur Health Centre opened in Pointe Verte
Pointe Verte, February 9, 2015 – The Chaleur Health Centre celebrated today the official opening of its’ new facility in the village of Pointe Verte.
“The new Chaleur Health Centre project went through a number of planning and organizational steps in order to become the facility that we bear witness to this morning. We can now say mission accomplished and I could not be more proud of this wonderful achievement”, said Vitalité Health Network President and CEO Jean Castonguay.
The Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation acquired the Caisse Populaire building for the symbolic amount of $1 after its’ closure and will rent the facility to Vitalité Health Network in order to house the Chaleur Health Centre.
“This is a prime example of cooperation and creativity. Instead of destroying our infrastructure legacy and history, we build towards the future and renovate it. Realizations such as this do not happen by chance. They are the product of visionaries, builders and good managers. Having a brilliant idea is one thing but to realize it is something completely different”, said Euclide Chiasson, President of the Board of Directors for the Caisse populaire des Fondateurs.
The Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation invested $100 000 in renovations as well as $30 000 in new equipment in order to carry out the project.
“Our Foundation is proud of having been invited to be a part of the transaction and renovations to the new Chaleur Health Centre. I believe the symbolic amount of $1 we paid for the building’s acquisition shows once again the commitment the Caisse populaire des Fondateurs has towards its’ community. Our relationship with them goes back many years and they have always been leaders in the development of healthcare in the region”, said Jean-Guy Robichaud, President of the Board of Directors of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation.
The original Chaleur Health Centre opened in 1980. The first patient was treated in the new facility on December 8th 2014.
