Dr. Georges-L- Dumont University Hospital Centre’s physicians and Vitalité Health Network collaborate to improve operation of Emergency Department
Moncton, March 15, 2019 – The Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre’s medical staff and Vitalité Health Network have agreed to pursue their search for solutions to improve operation of the hospital’s Emergency Department.
The past few weeks have been quite difficult in the Emergency Department of the Network’s largest hospital due to high demand and a bed occupancy rate exceeding 100 percent. According to Dr. Rémi Leblanc, President of the Medical and Dental Staff of the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital Centre, the situation remains challenging but intensive efforts are underway to find solutions. “Things on the ground are stabilizing but work remains to be done,” he said. “We sat down this week to see how we could all work together to improve things and develop an action plan. The atmosphere is positive.”
For his part, the President and CEO of the Network, Gilles Lanteigne, commended those involved in the file for their openness and collaboration. “It’s important for all internal and external partners to understand each other. Working together is the key to finding sustainable solutions that can solve the short- and long-term challenges,” Mr. Lanteigne stated. “The priority of all professionals – whether physicians, nurses or managers – is the quality of patient care and providing the best possible services.”
