December 28, 2021: Vitalité Health Network asks public to reduce overnight demand on Emergency Department of Edmundston Regional Hospital

Edmundston, Tuesday, December 28, 2021 – The Network is asking the public in the Northwest to limit overnight visits – except in urgent cases – to the Emergency Department of the Edmundston Regional Hospital.  This temporary measure is due to an unforeseen shortage of medical staff in the facility for the next two weeks.

Effective:
Tuesday, December 28, 2021 to Monday, January 10, 2022, from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. (ends: January 10, 2022 at 8 a.m.).

The facility’s Emergency Department remains open for people who need urgent care and who wish to see a doctor. However, the Network is asking people whose health situation is not critical to see their family doctor or nurse practitioner, consult their community pharmacist, go to a walk-in clinic or call Tele-Care Service (811).

Longer wait times

The Network is also asking the public to limit their visits to the Emergency during the day today.  People who come to the Emergency today for non-urgent reasons should be patient and expect longer than usual wait times.

The Network apologizes for any inconvenience that this situation may cause.
