Care and services provided by Vitalité Health Network meet national quality standards

Bathurst, September 27, 2017 – Vitalité Health Network maintained its status of accredited organization, therefore confirming that the care and services it provides to the population meet the highest national quality standards.

Between June 18 and 23, a team of fifteen Accreditation Canada representatives surveyed the Network’s various points of service to assess services provided and determine if they met Canadian standards.

According to Gilles Lanteigne, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Network, the accreditation process identifies what works well and what needs to be improved to provide better health care to patients, their families and the community.  “The accreditation process also enables us to make better use of our resources, increase our effectiveness, improve quality and safety while reducing risks”, he stated.

During the survey, Accreditation Canada representatives consulted documents, met with staff members, visited facilities and programs, assessed processes, and interviewed patients, families as well as the Network’s partners. After reviewing over 3,300 criteria, the independent organization determined that the Network meets the national standards.

“The renewal of our accreditation status is the result of efforts made by the Network’s Board members, employees, physicians and volunteers, who are committed to improving people’s health. The accreditation is tangible proof that we offer quality care and services that meet not only patients’ needs but also nationally recognized standards”, he added.

Accreditation Canada is a non-profit and independent organization that, since 1958, has been helping health care organizations across Canada review and improve the quality of care and service they provide to their communities. The accreditation program is based on an external peer review and on knowledge sharing.
