Appointment of new President and CEO of Vitalité Health Network

(GNB) June 18, 2015 – Gilles Lanteigne, an experienced health-care professional and former executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Accreditation Canada, has been named chief executive officer of Vitalité Health Network.

Health Minister Victor Boudreau made the announcement today.

“Gilles Lanteigne possesses a strong knowledge of the health-care system and is a recognized leader with more than 25 years of experience in strategic level positions, including chief executive officer positions in two hospitals in Quebec,” said Boudreau.

Lanteigne replaces Jean Castonguay, interim chief executive officer of Vitalité Health Network. Lanteigne, a native of Dalhousie, assumes the position August 10.

Lanteigne comes to New Brunswick following a five-year term as chief executive officer of the Champlain Community Care Access Centre in Ottawa. He has also held a number of progressive positions in health-care administration, including serving as executive director of two acute-care hospitals in Quebec and as director of professional and rehabilitation services at Pavillon du Parc Inc.

Lanteigne has a Ph.D in Public Health Management from the Universite de Montreal, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Ottawa, a Master of Social Work from Université de Sherbrooke and a Bachelors’ degree in Social Work from Université de Moncton. He is also a certified health executive and a chartered professional accountant/certified general accountant.

Last November, the Department of Health enlisted the services of an executive search firm to find a permanent chief executive officer for Vitalité Health Network.
