Medical masks are mandatory in hospitals
(Updated June 13, 2022)
Medical masks are mandatory for patients and visitors entering a Vitalité Health Network hospital (exception, children less that 2 years of age).
Upon entry, all patients and visitors will be provided with a medical mask (surgical mask or KN95). They will be asked to remove their mask / face covering and put on a medical mask provided by the Network. Hand hygiene must be performed after taking off their mask / face covering and before putting on the medical mask. Hand hygiene must be performed again after putting on the medical mask.
Admitted patients must wear a medical mask when circulating outside their rooms, except for long-term care / veteran patients who are on closed units.
Patients who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons must inform the Quality and Patient Safety Department prior to their appointment so the appropriate arrangements are made to accommodate them:
- Zone Beauséjour (Moncton and surrounding area) : 506-862-3767
- Zone Nord-Ouest (Edmundston and surrounding area) : 506-739-2221
- Zone Restigouche (Campbellton and surrounding area) : 506-789-5023
- Zone Acadie-Bathurst (Bathurst et Acadian Peninsula) : 506-544-2057
Patients who arrive at their appointment without having made prior arrangements will have to wait at the door until the concerned department is informed and appropriate measures have been taken.
Please note all visitors must wear a medical mask at all times without exception.
