Obstetrical services at Chaleur Regional Hospital remain closed

Bathurst, Monday, November 5, 2018 – Vitalité Health Network informs residents of the Chaleur region and Acadian Peninsula that obstetrical services at Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst will remain closed until further notice.

Due to human resources challenges, labour and delivery services continue to remain unstable. “For the moment, the number of nurses at the Obstetrical Unit is continuing to fluctuate from one day to the next, and this is making it impossible to continue our services on a regular basis,” stated Gilles Lanteigne, President and CEO of Vitalité Health Network.  “We are pursuing our intensive efforts with the teams in place to maximize the available resources and resolve this issue as quickly as possible,” he added, while mentioning that patients’ health and safety remains the priority.
